Colombo, March 19 (Daily Mirror) - The Colombo District Court today rejected the objections raised by Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) leader Sajith Premadasa, against the enjoining order which prevented the SJB from removing Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka from his party membership and positions.

Accordingly, Colombo District Court Judge Sandun Vithana further extended its enjoining order preventing the SJB from removing Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka from party membership and positions till April 2.

Sarath Fonseka had obtained an enjoining order, preventing the SJB from removing him on the basis of remarks he made against offering party membership to former Army Commander Daya Ratnayake.

Faiszer Musthapha PC with Shaheeda Barrie, Mehran Careem, Pulasthi Rupasinghe and Amila Perera appeared for the plaintiff, while President’s Counsel Romesh De Silva with Farman Cassim PC appeared for SJB leader Sajith Premadasa.

Why court waste time on this matter. It is a position appointed by a party leader and he should be able to remove him too. Just wasting public money on usless matters. People will loose faith on courts continues and it will reach a point where it cannot be reversed.

Disgraceful SF. Sticking with SJB like chewing gum this is disgusting. If you have the balls go and register another party separately. It is best for SJB to completely ignore him . Not invite him for any event etc . Just keep him out.

Court acts on the laws available. There are ways to delay an outcome and when litigants have money they take that path. Most of the laws that we follow in court needs to be revised but the Justice Minister will not take that path as it prevents the lawyers from making money.

Main Reason for Judiciary Backlog Wednesday, 20 March 2024 05:27 AM

Absolutely. No wonder the judiciary is full of backlogs cases. Unnecessary cases should be struck off and concentrate on cases that have much significance.

This type of verdicts are the curse of justice system and the guardian of corruption. These fellows issued similar verdicts not to arrest Gota prior to him becoming the President. The country, the people paid a heavy price for such miscarriages of justice in the country

Plaintiff in that case failed to prove that Gota was a US citizen. So, the benefit of the doubt given to Gota causing the whole crisis.

The conspiracy against Gota before the election fell flat and worked after he won the election. That is not Gota's fault that the conspiracy succeeded after months of sabotage.

Booru Putha trying to be a dictator.

He is desperate for power Wednesday, 20 March 2024 06:59 PM

Sajith will try any and every trick in politics to get into power. But his naked greed for power is so obvious he is off putting, whether he be bus man, or tampon man, he is still a reject of society. Sajith is a disgrace to the human race.

The attempt to exclude Premadasa Fonseka from the SJB, at a time when Sri Lanka is trying to set the course for a fundamental, even radical, reorganization of politics and society, can no longer be surpassed in terms of ridiculousness!!! The fact that a court also has to deal with the differences and consequences resulting from personal animosity between the two is an indictment of Premadasa's leadership skills!!! Premadasa and Fonseka should go their separate ways! You can't win elections with Premadasa as the party leader and such childish arguments!!!

Court cases drag year on ends with no end in sight. While the victims spend $$ on lawyers and being victimized again and again. The whole justice system is rotten to the core

He recently told that Sajith and him were with different views. So, SF shall leave rather than causing further problems in fulfilling the aspirations of the depressed and suppressed public and for the sake of good for Sri Lanka without being a leech or a parasite.

Fonseka has not changed he still the same man greedy man. Same as the others in parliament.

I am always amazed when I read the personality defamatory comments about Sarath Fonseka! Are they all people who know him from years of personal contact and interaction or are they basing their opinions about him on hearsay, fantasies, speculation and prejudiced thinking towards military personnel!!!??? The fact is that this man has done an outstanding job for the country and its people, has more political intelligence than all the presidential candidates mentioned so far, represents political values and beliefs that are democratically based and is ready to work with people who think and think like themselves, the "radical" , to make the change process a corruption-free, ethnically equal and safe Sri Lanka!!! Sri Lankan voters should support and elect only those politicians who put the country and its well-being before their own personality and its usefulness!!!

Sarath is standing up for good Wednesday, 20 March 2024 06:58 PM

The legal system shows political parties are nothing compared to individual rights. Even parliament has to be brought into the same group as political parties. SLPP wasn't there long before last election, and it should be decimated even though it did much good early in its term. However their back flip under Ranil's control shows they've lost touch. Sarath should be boss of Ranil, Mahinda the failed, Gota, and have Sajith as a peon.
