Colombo, August 13 (Daily Mirror) - Five Chinese nationals involved in cyber fraud activities were deported by Immigration and Emigration officers at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) while attempting to enter Sri Lanka.

The individuals arrived at the airport at 10.30 a.m. from Bangkok, Thailand, on SriLankan Airlines flight UL-405. Suspicion arose during the immigration clearance process, prompting officers to refer them to the Chief Immigration and Emigration Officer for further investigation.

The individuals had claimed they were arriving to work for a company based in the Colombo Port City and had obtained valid pre-residence visas. However, investigations revealed they had previously worked for suspicious companies in Cambodia and the Philippines, both known for cybercrime operations.

Following the probe, authorities handed them over to SriLankan Airlines for immediate deportation.
