Dry ration allowance for displaced persons increased

The National Disaster Relief Services Centre (NDRSC) has revised the allowance provided for dry rations to families displaced by the ongoing adverse weather.

According to Assistant Secretary Jayatissa Munasinghe, the weekly allowance of Rs. 1,800 per individual has been increased to Rs. 2,100, while the allowance for a family of five has been raised from Rs. 3,600 to Rs. 10,500.

He noted that Divisional Secretaries and District Secretaries have now been authorised to issue dry rations under the updated limits.

Munasinghe added that the revisions were made under the President’s instructions and formalised through Circular 1 (2025), signed by the Secretary of Defence.
