Colombo, Feb 28 (Daily Mirror) - The Education Ministry is set to initiate appropriate disciplinary action against the individual involved in recording a video that caused discomfort to a small child in a school classroom.

A video is presently circulating on social media, featuring the questioning of a small child, resulting in the child feeling uncomfortable while responding.

Upon contacting the Ministry, a senior official said that an investigation will be conducted to identify the individual responsible for recording the incident.

If it is determined that a teacher was involved, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against him or her.

Very good. People think they can film almost everything without anyone's permission and upload it on social media. In some countries, it's a punishable act.

Don’t be idiotic like the West and talk about “investigations” and “ inquiries”, instead directly deal with the teacher and convince the teacher that what was done was wholly unacceptable and never again to do this kind thing to any child in the school. Also through the school reassure the child and the parents . That should be enough , if we copy what happens in the West , it would be a cruel and bizarre and at the ed of the day no one gets satisfied.

What about the teacher who caused such discomfort to the child? Will any action be taken against this teacher as well or is the department interested only in apprehending the person who filmed this incident?

Storm in a teacup. Just for the show and grandstanding. Deal with the issue not the symptom. Educate the teachers first. Do not take an isolated incident to vilify a teacher who may have had good intensions. Our education system has failed us. Open Economy practiced at public schools and private ones catering to competitive 'uneducated' parents.
