Dawoodi Bohra Community donates Rs. 10 Million to support cyclone Ditwah relief

Colombo, Dec. 2 (Daily Mirror)- The Dawoodi Bohra community in Sri Lanka has mobilised and extended its support to the national response for Cyclone Ditwah, contributing Rs. 10 million to the President’s Relief Fund.

The donation was made today by the Dawoodi Bohra delegation, on behalf of their leader, His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, at the Presidential Secretariat to the Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumaranayake.

The funds will help authorities deliver urgent relief to families impacted by flooding, landslides, and widespread damage to homes and essential infrastructure.

Alongside financial support, on-ground relief has already begun through Project Rise, the community’s global philanthropic programme. Volunteer teams have been deployed to some of the hardest-hit areas to distribute dry rations, warm cooked meals, clean drinking water, and medical and sanitation supplies. These efforts are being carried out with the support of the Sri Lanka Police, the Colombo Municipal Council, and partner organisations.

Khuzaimah Jafferjee, Vice President of the Dawoodi Bohras of Sri Lanka, said, “Sri Lanka is our home. Its people are part of our story. We stand with them in this difficult hour and are grateful to the authorities for working tirelessly to protect and support affected communities.”

The Dawoodi Bohra community remains committed to standing by the country beyond the immediate emergency phase. Further assistance is being planned to help families rebuild homes, restore livelihoods, and return to stability in the weeks ahead.
