Colombo, Dec. 1 (Daily Mirror) - The Chilaw General Hospital has been temporarily closed until further notice after heavy rains triggered severe flooding across the premises.
Hospital Director Dr. Sumith Attanayake said the hospital grounds are submerged under more than five feet of water, forcing an immediate halt to all medical services and prompting emergency evacuation measures.
He said critically ill patients were airlifted to the Colombo and Puttalam hospitals by Sri Lanka Air Force helicopters, while other patients were transferred to the Wariyapola and Kurunegala hospitals once floodwaters receded enough to allow movement.
