Colombo, Feb 23 (Daily Mirror) - The Malwathu and Asgiri Chief Prelates have lost their faith on President Ranil Wickremesinghe and with the government as they have begun to raise doubts about the elections being held as scheduled, former MP Hirunika Premachandra said.
Premachandra visited the Chief Prelates yesterday to receive blessings for the launch of the first ever women's summit in Kandy.
After the discussion, she told the media that the prelates had no trust in whether or not the government was going to hold the Presidential election.
"Sometimes the government says that they are going to hold a Presidential election, sometimes they talk about a parliamentary election, and sometimes they say that they are going to have a referandum," she said.
"It is clear that the Chief Prelates have no faith on the President, the government, or the procedures conducted by the government. This is a very critical situation. The highest blessing that anyone in this country, including the President, can receive is from the Chief Prelates. If the Chief Prelates are disappointed on the country and the leaders, it is a critical situation," she said.
"I don't think the government or any of the leaders in the country can get those blessings," Hirunika added.

The Chief Prelates are quite capable making a statement themselves. This looks like a mischievous statement purported to be made on behalf to the Chief Prelates. If she is spinning words on behalf of the Chief Prelates it is a very serious matter. It is common knowledge the mouth this opportunist has.

I too have suspicions after looking through this. Where is the copy which includes the Mahanayake's words too? Or is it that the Mahanayake is not someone important? The interviewer is also useless. He's also 'bowling full-tosses' as questions. Hahaha.

Please keep this in mid whenever you get in to the stage please dont start lambasting JVP digging in to their past which took place more than 36 years ago. It will not bring your party anywhere and those who listen mostly young generation may not aware what you are talking. Just talk about the economy and how your leader is approaching the burning economic problems the country is facing now. scolding Anura kumara with your high voice will not get your party anywhere, instead it might effect your vote bank.

What have the Prelates done to bring these Politicians to the right track. Just assuming that they have lost faith and doing nothing will never solve the problems the country is facing. When these politicians visit these Prelates carrying baskets of fruits and other paraphenalia the Prelates are full of smiles and these Politicians are under the impression that they have won acceptance and blessings. Only in one instance the Malwatte Thero did not want any of these politicians visting him. Bold stands should be taken to reprimand these politicians when they try to deviate from the laws laid under the Constitution with a general consensus that all Prelates from all Nikayas keep these politicians at bay with one voice instead of one or two of them giving audience to these politicians.!!!!!!!!

Anyone who is not Govigama should realise that the Malwathu and Asgiri chapters are first, smaller in number compared to the chapters which take persons regardless of race. And they are also continuing to be racist, so they can keep their Maligawa while the rest of the country will rebel against them. They are Siam style anyway, and substandard, compared to traditional Sri Lankan nikaya.
