It's not in the nature of Sirisena to jump at things, rather he would come up with a witty quip, laugh at his own jokes and walk away. This most probably was exactly what happened when he received the tip from Indian secret service of the impending attack. Realising his stupidity later, he is pointing his finger at everyone but himself.

Truth was that although Rajapaksas may have been behind the Easter Attack in 2019, in spite of warnings over 90 times from the Indian Intelligence Service (RAW) and Pakistani Intelligence Service (ISI), the then-president did not take any action to prevent it, and was on a shopping spree with his family in Singapore during Easter 2009 and did not return immediately after informing him about the attack. President Sirisena was not fit enough to be even a Grama-Sevaka of a remote village.
