Around 100 mm showers likely after 1.00 p.m today

Colombo, Jan 08 (Daily Mirror) -  Heavy showers of about 100 mm are likely in the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts after 1.00 p.m., the forecasting division of the National Meteorological Centre said.

They said heavy showers of above 50 mm are likely in the Ampara, Batticaloa and Badulla districts.

Showers will occur in the Eastern, Northern and Uva Provinces as well. Several spells of showers will occur in the North-Central Province. 

Therefore, the public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Meanwhile, showers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast, extending from Kankesanthurai to Galle via Trincomalee, Pottuvil and Hambantota
