Accident involving President’s Secretary’s car injures four



Colombo, August 4 (Daily Mirror) - Four members of the same family, including two children, were hospitalised following an accident involving the official vehicle of President’s Secretary Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake in Thalangama.

Police said the incident occurred on Saturday night along the Pelawatte–Akuregoda Road, near the Sri Lanka Air Force Camp.

According to police, the President’s Secretary’s car collided with a motorcycle travelling in the opposite direction. Four individuals were on the motorcycle at the time of the accident and were initially admitted to the National Hospital, Colombo.

The mother and her two children, aged 2 and 6, were later transferred to the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for treatment.

Dr. Kumanayake’s wife and the vehicle’s driver were inside the car during the incident. The driver was arrested by the Thalangama Police and produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court, where he was later released on bail.

The Magistrate also ordered the driver to pay Rs. 35,000 in compensation to the affected family.

Thalangama Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
