The Middle Eastern region is a growth market for Sri Lanka. Tourist arrivals have shown an increase over the last two years. Thus, in order to create greater awareness of the country, Sri Lanka Tourism, in collaboration with Oman Air organised a FAM tour for 11 travel agents recently.
The visitors also had the opportunity of visiting the Pinnawala zoo, being involved in whale watching, surfing and golfing. They had an enjoyable journey and were also able to gain information about the valuable natural resources that Sri Lanka is blessed with, which makes it an ideal destination for holidaymakers.
In the 10 months to October 2016, the tourist arrivals from the Middle Eastern region were 88,014, of which 13 percent was from Oman. This visit will be a good opportunity for both countries to strengthen their bilateral ties even more and build positive business partnerships, increasing more tourist arrivals from Oman in the future.
