Continuing to nurture and support sports at all levels, Sampath Bank Sports Club honored its sportsmen and women at its Colours Night 2018 held at Grand Monarch, Thalawathugoda recently.
Mr. Nanda Fernando, Managing Director – Sampath Bank PLC, was the Chief Guest at the event, which was attended by more than 200 of the Bank’s sports stars from across 10 sporting disciplines. Mr. Tharaka Ranwala, Senior Deputy General Manager – Consumer Banking, Sampath Bank PLC and President - Sampath Bank Sports Club along with other members of the Bank’s Corporate Management Team were present at the event.
Vinoth Kanakalingam who broke a 23 year old 800m Meet Record at the Mercantile Athletic Championship 2018 was awarded ‘Player of the Year – 2018.’
Further, 12 ‘2nd Year Colours’ were awarded to athletes who won first place for the 2nd consecutive year at their respective events while 34 ‘Colours 2018’ were awarded to Athletes and Hockey and Netball players who won championships and placed 1st at their respective tournaments and events in 2018.
In addition to the above, 79 sportsmen and women were felicitated with Awards 2018, representing Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Football, Hockey, Netball and Swimming.
