An anniversary celebration held by an upcountry politico the other day drew a large crowd as it had been announced earlier that a valuable mobile phone would be presented to each participant.
Several thousand had attended this celebration held to mark the politico’s 30 years of service to the people. At the conclusion, all attendees were presented with an attractively packed
small box.
There was a mad scramble to receive the gift as the people presumed that the small box contained a mobile phone and there was a mixed reaction from the recipients when they discovered it was only a mug.
Many were visibly angry when they found that the box contained a mug, but some of the crowd appeared highly amused about being taken for a ride, they say.
