Soldier on duty at Army HQ shoots himself

A 27-year-old soldier who was on duty at the Army Headquarters in Colombo died after he had allegedly shot himself early yesterday morning.  Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera said the soldier who was attached to the Engineers’ Corps of the Army Headquarters, shot himself using his official weapon.  


He was identified as a resident of Polonnaruwa.  


Earlier, an airman who was on duty at the Swiss Ambassador’s official residence in Colombo also died after he had allegedly shot himself with his official weapon on July 31.
