Products of the Industrialists belonging to all ethnic groups- Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim and Burger will be assured a fair price for their products, State Minister of Rattan, Brass, Pottery, Furniture and Rural Industrial Promotion Prasanna Ranaweera said yesterday.
State Minister gave this assurance when he met Palmyrah Industrialists in Pathinipuram in the Trincomalee District recently.

“Pathinipuram is a village where there is a large population of low- income families. Their main livelihood is paddy cultivation. Women in this area produce ornaments using Palamyrah palm leaves. They face numerous difficulties such as finding a market for their products,” the State Minister said.
“The State Ministry is planning to open a sales centre for these women in Colombo for the Trinconmalee group of women. Also the Ministry had already distributed equipment worth Rs 2.2 million to them,” it is said.
Minister who was speaking at a ceremony organised to distribute this financial assistance said all Ministers and State Ministers should be grateful to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa for understanding the importance of various industries and appointing Ministers to be in charge of such sectors.
“ I am proud of my ministry and have already identified challenges associated with it. Although it is essential to safeguard the tradition and embrace modernisation, it is also important to capture foreign markets for local products. My ministry will undertake the task of facilitating you to develop your industry,” the State Minister said.
Trincomalee District Secretary Asanka Abeywardene, Additional Secretary of the State Ministry Lakdas and Chairman of the Tambalagamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha A. G. Champika Bandara participated in the event.
