A naval rating in Rekawa in Tangalle identified as COVID-19 positive was admitted to the Infectious Diseases Hospital ( IDH) in Angoda.
Meanwhile three members of his family and a Grama Niladhari of the area associated with them were self quarantined by the officials of the Tangalle MOH office.
MOH Dr. Jagath Gajadeera said the PCR test confirmed that the naval rating of the Welisara Naval Base who had visited his house in Rekawa on April 21, was Corona positive. He said the naval rating’s father, mother and the sister and the Grama Niladhari who had visited the house were quarantined on Monday. The PHIs had taken steps to sterilize the house and the surrounding area and advised the people living along the Netolpitiya-Rekawa Road not to leave their houses. A supermarket in Tangalle visited by the naval rating was also closed on the instructions of the MOH.
Meanwhile several members of the infected naval rating in Nelliwala were referred to the Mihintale quarantine centre on Monday evening. Imbulpe Division MOH Dr. Ananda Manjula Godage said the naval rating’s wife and their three children, his sister and her husband were referred to the quarantine centre.
The PHIs had taken step to sterilize the house and the surrounding area and advised the people living along the Netolpitiya-Rekawa Road not to leave their houses
