A stock of adulterated coconut oil containing carcinogen unfit for human consumption was seized on Monday night by the Dankotuawa Police during a raid carried out on a private land in the area last morning.
The seized quantity of coconut oil was handed over to the Customs for further investigations.
Police said they received information that the stock of 55,000 litres of coconut oil had been imported from Indonesia and that the two tankers belonged to a businessman in Enderamulla in Wattala.
The two bowser loads of coconut oil were taken to the Sri Lanka Customs by a police team under IP Kalinga Wijebandara on the instructions of OIC Dankotuwa police CI Thilina Hettiarachchi.
