‘Sansare Piyasatahan’ marks 21st anniversary

A special programme was held at the BMICH last week to mark the 21st anniversary of Ananda Abeynayake’s popular ‘Sansare Piyastahan’ poya tele drama series that’s being telecast on Rupavahini on Poya days.

The event was presided over by Ven. Bellanwila Wimalarathana Thera while the keynote address was delivered by Prof. Sunil Ariyaratne. Saman Athaudahetti anchored the ceremony which included the screening of the first episode of ‘Sansare Piyasatahan’ that unspooled in November, 1993.
Awards of appreciation were presented to all those who contributed towards the success of ‘Sansare Piyasatahan’ during the past 21 years.
The first episode in the series titled ‘Thawath Peraherak’ scripted by Somaweera Senanayake featured Jayalath Manoratne and Chandani Seneviratne in the main roles. Sansare Piyastahan has won 19 awards locally and six international awards too.
