Three suspects attached to the Jammiyathul Millathu Ibrahim (JMI), who underwent weapons training with National Thowheed Jamaath (NTJ) leader Zahran Hashim, were arrested in Ampara today, police said.
They said the investigations revealed that the suspects had maintained connections with Zahran Hashim who orchestrated the Easter Sunday attack.
One suspect was identified as Muhammad Mansur Seifullah, alias Abu Zaheed, who is a resident of Kaligamuwa in Gelioya. He had received weapons training at the Nuwara Eliya camp.
The second suspect, Mushtaq Ali Amhar, alias Abuhind, is a resident of Walpoladeniya in Mawanella. He had received weapons training at the Hambantota camp.
The third suspect Muhammad Tahir Hidayathulla, alias Abuthurab, is a resident of Sahanagama in Mawanella. He had received weapons training at the Nuwara Eliya camp and is a former student of the South Eastern University at Oluvil.
