A South African variant of COVID-19 known as B.1.351 has been detected from a patient in a quarantine center in Sri Lanka for the first time, Director of the Department of Immunology and Molecular Medicine of Sri Jayewardenepura University, Dr. Chandima Jeewandara said.
He said the patient is a returnee from Tanzanian.

Why aren't the daily COVID-19 infected numbers are not revealed now? The people of Sri Lanka may get the wrong impression that the situation is under control when, in fact, things may have turned for the worse. This government is behaving worse than a bunch of kindergarten kids.

This will spread like wild fire. Expect 250 deaths per day. The elderly are very vulnerable. Infectious diseases department must take this outbreak very very seriously please.
