PCR testing is to be conducted on 250 employees attached to Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) today subsequent to a mother of an employee who was found COVID-19 positive, CMC Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ruwan Wijemuni said yesterday.
Dr. Wijemuni told Daily Mirror that the mother of this employee has been working at the apparel factory in Divulapitiya where the new COVID-19 cluster had begun. “We will be subjecting around 250 employees attached to CMC to PCR tests today. These are second-hand contacts of the employee's mother,” Dr. Wijemuni said.
The victim is said to be free of symptoms though she has been found positive,” he added.
The employee had last reported to work on Friday, October 2 according to other CMC sources. The monthly sessions of the CMC was held on the day before according to sources. (Yohan Perera)
