The monthly fuel price revision will not come into effect tonight, the Finance Ministry announced a short while ago.
It said the committee formulated to determine the fuel prices not met today.
Accordingly, the fuel price revision which came into effect on September 10 would continue till November.
"The fuel price which was increased in August by Rs.2 was brought down after the price revision in September. Price of a barrel of crude oil in the world market had come down and, therefore, there is no need to have a fuel revision for this month," the Ministry said.
Accordingly, on September 10, Petrol (Octane 92) per litre was decreased by one rupee and the revised price was Rs.137, Petrol (Octane 95) was sold at Rs.161, decreased by Rs.2 per litre.
A litre of Super Diesel was lowered by Rs.2 and the new price stands at Rs.132. There was no price revision on Auto Diesel which remains at Rs.104.
However, the price of Lanka Kerosene and Auto Diesel will remain at Rs.70 and Rs.104 per litre respectively. (Chaturanga Samarawickrma)
