Issuing a communique, the Sri Dalada Maligawa today said that none of their staffers has been tested positive with COVID-19.
Sri Dalada Maligawa media unit said the sacred Temple of Tooth was closed for pilgrims and disinfected the police officers attached to the temple's Police Post who were found COVID-19 positive.
They said all officers in the site have been sent for quarantine and the policemen from other Police stations were deployed for duty.
However, the daily rituals are being carried out as usual under the guidance of Maha Nayaka Theras of Asgiri and Malwathu chapters and the stringent supervision of the Diyawadana Nilame.
The safety measures implemented for devotees are continuing as usual, the media unit said.
Meanwhile, Kandy SSP Sudath Masinghe yesterday said 153 police officers attached to the Sri Dalada Maligawa police post were subject to PCR tests, when a CI and an IP had contracted COVID-19 and 21 of them confirmed positive. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
