The Education Ministry is currently making arrangements to reopen schools for Grade 11, except in the isolated police areas including in Western Province (WP) on January 25, Education Minister Prof. G. L. Pieris said.
He said the decision was taken following the instructions and recommendations issued by the Health authorities.
Accordingly, no schools in the isolated police areas in the country will be opened on January 25, he said.
However, the GCE Ordinary Level (O/L) examination is scheduled to be held on March 1 and will be held for eleven days, the Minister said.
He said the syllabi of the students need to be covered.
Therefore, the Ministry is trying its best to reopen schools for Grade 11 students on Jan. 25,” he said.
Moreover, the O/L exam results are scheduled to be released by the end of June, the Minister added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
