Wallapatta smuggled for shampoo seized

Two Chinese who attempted to smuggle out several pieces of Wallapatta concealed in their travelling bags in order to use them in shampoo production were taken into custody yesterday at the Bandaranaike International Airport, customs spokesman Lesley Gamini said.

The seized Wallapatta weighing 38 kilogrammes was estimated around Rs.28 million  The suspects aged 28 and 35 had arrived at the BIA to take the flight to Shanghai, China where they engaged as businessmen involved in shampoo products.
