By Chaturanga Samarawickrama
Indonesia-bound Jeddah flight belonging to Thai Lion Air made an emergency landing last morning at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) due to the sudden illness of three passengers, the BIA Duty Manager said.
“When the flight landed at 2:45 a.m., three Indonesian passengers were handed over to the airport police and later rushed to the Negombo Hospital for treatment. Two of the passengers – female (71) and male (64) – died on admission while the other – a 77-year-old male – received treatment,” he said.
He said the remains of the deceased would be handed over to the Indonesian Embassy in Colombo after investigations concluded.
