Work on the proposed road from Orugodawatte and Ambatale will be completed within four months, Minister of Highways Johnston Fernando said yesterday.
Minister Fernando who was on an inspection tour to the site yesterday said the project will be undertaken by two companies. Accordingly one contractor had undertaken to construct the stretch from Orugodawatte to Kalu Palama at a cost of Rs.1943.5 million while, another company had undertaken to construct the stretch from Angoda Junction to Ambatale. Cost for this stretch has been estimated at Rs. 1528.4 million.
“Government has decided to cancel the contracts of those who delay the work and to sign fresh agreements with new contractors. Therefore we request new construction companies to come forward and make their offers,” the Minister said.
