The Twitter message posted by SJB MP Harin Fernando that he had got a PCR test done, triggered a uproar in Parliament as government MP Premalal C. Dolawatte requesting that Mr. Fernando should go in for isolation.

“Mr. Fernando should go into isolation as per the common procedure when a person goes through a PCR test. Also let us know the test results. I am raising this issue on behalf of all MPs and the Speaker” Mr. Dolawatte said.
Mr. Fernando who responded said he performed his duty by getting himself tested for COVID-19. “I thought it was my duty to get myself tested. I believe that all MPs should be subject to PCR tests.

“It’s better to get tested and get yourself cleared to makesure you save others from the virus. Private testing now available at private hospitals at a cost of Rs 12,000. One can get medical officers to visit the homes and do the test” the MP said.
