Health Ministry Spokesperson and Former Director General of Health Dr. Jayaruwan Bandara resigned from the position voluntarily, Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi told Parliament yesterday.
She said Dr. Bandara served in an acting capacity at a time when the post of Director General of Health was vacant. “Since Dr. Bandara was serving in an acting capacity I had to appoint a permanent Director General referring the matter to the Cabinet. An interview Board was appointed for the purpose and they shortlisted suitable persons. I also had to refer names of shortlisted persons and the marks they have scored during the interviews to the Cabinet. I informed Dr. Bandara about this situation and he offered to resign from his post voluntarily,” she said.
