Brown sugar at Rs.115 a kilo through Sathosa from next Monday

Brown sugar will be issued at Rs.115 a kilo through the state-run Sathosa retail shops next Monday onwards, Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardane said yesterday.   

The Minister said Lanka Sugar Company had recorded profits, and the benefit would be passed on to people in this manner. He said demand for sugar would spike during the festival season for making sweetmeats.   
He said Lak Sathosa recorded the highest daily turnover of Rs.142 million on Thursday.  
“We will set up Sathosa franchise shops at village level starting from May,” he said.
