Villages flooded after heavy rains

Over 150 villagers, including Naula, Kongahawela and Moragolla situated along the Ambanganga in Matale were flooded today, following heavy rains. Pictures show some of the damage caused by the flooding. Pix by Kanchana Kumara Ariyadasa

    Nothing new, rains, floods, earth tremors, landslides, draughts, famines...all these things have continually happened throughout history. The only difference is that their effects have been more disasterous to us since we have encroached vulnerable areas.
