Railway tracks were laid on the section from Matara to Beliatta for the proposed railway line to Kataragama from Matara which is being constructed at a cost of USD 274 million. State Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardane was the Chief Guest of the event. Chief of Political Affairs of the Chinese Embassy Lou Chong and China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation’s Vice President Zhao Jun were also present. Pics by Pradeep Pathirana
