In an effort to increase avenues to increase tourism traffic to the country, the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) together with industry stakeholders have initiated the launch of the ‘Meet in Sri Lanka’ series to cater to the high potential MICE market.
The move was announced at the Chairman’s Forum on MICE Tourism that was held recently in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Association of Professional Conference, Exhibition & Event Organisers (SLAPCEO).
The forum identified that for the series to fulfill its objective, private sector support is required to promote MICE tourism via the bio bubble concept.
One of the first steps under the series is to host destination weddings for which Sri Lanka is currently working with the Indian government to firm up a ‘travel bubble’ agreement, the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) said.
