This is wimal's way of being a hero. He wants to show the idiots who voted for him that he's the only person who can save sri lanka. Can't you see, he wants to be next President of SL.

Saradial Wednesday, 07 July 2010 09:08 AM
Don't compare with Israel. They know in the case of Israel it is just appointment , for other countries not just appointment, Panel will be active.
Ajantha Wednesday, 07 July 2010 09:19 AM
the People who came with Wimal don't know what the protest is for. They just came for liquor and packet of lunch.

Ram Wednesday, 07 July 2010 11:30 AM
He is doing all these things with the belessing of MR.
Priyangani Atapatthu Wednesday, 07 July 2010 11:52 AM

Wimal and his party members are very good in accusing others for taking bribes like he did during the presidential election.Do not think that we are fools brother to believe all what you say.
Sri Minnal Wednesday, 07 July 2010 11:09 PM

Nimal Wednesday, 07 July 2010 11:42 PM
Shame on the government for allowing this protest.
Anand Thursday, 08 July 2010 04:39 AM
Well disciplined Srilankans, removing Govt Servants cap.
Disgrace for the country.
Jagath Wednesday, 07 July 2010 05:50 AM
When the UN appopinted a panel for Israel , the people in Israel never behaved in this way That is the difference.
Ananda S Wednesday, 07 July 2010 05:27 AM
Peaceful demontrations should continue against this pathetic attempt by UN, US and EU for appointing this commiitte without UN's proper approval from the memeber states. UN digs it own pit.
dilshan Wednesday, 07 July 2010 05:30 AM
SO even the government now acknoledges that the Police is taking bribes !!!!!!!!
Dead or alive Wednesday, 07 July 2010 05:31 AM
I think its been said many times, but must be said again: either he is a moron or a political opportunist of the highest order. what he doesn't realise (and what the government doesn't seem to realise) is that such action is causing considerable damage to Sri Lankas' reputation. There were far better ways of handling this issue than resorting to harassment and intimidation .
Saradial Wednesday, 07 July 2010 05:32 AM
Angoda hospital should start a special ward for VVIP(?!) ASAP.
Wara Wednesday, 07 July 2010 05:36 AM
Defenitely we should protest against this UN panel. But, I think it should be handled in a better way.
Ranjith Suda Wednesday, 07 July 2010 05:37 AM
A minister making such a statement brings disgrace for the govt, are you saying under your govt police are been bribed by UN. You must resign as a minister. This is the difference between west and Asia.
steve Wednesday, 07 July 2010 05:39 AM
"fast unto death" would be a very good option for the country to get rid of the morons!
curiosity Wednesday, 07 July 2010 05:39 AM
Fast unto death? Very good i hope the Hon Minister is the first to do so
David Wednesday, 07 July 2010 05:40 AM
We join Iran and Myanmar.
Not only politically but also economically too.
Bluff Bluff Wednesday, 07 July 2010 05:41 AM
Wimal, You are a minister in this Government. The entire cabinet is held responsible for all your actions and what you utter. Prove beyond any doubt, if you can, the fact that the Police officers had been bribed by the UN Representative. Then the IGP can take action against both parties as per the law of this country.
K.T.H.Wijenayake Wednesday, 07 July 2010 05:45 AM
"Old habits die hard". We must not forget that Wimal was a born JVPer. Their ways of taking on opponents is different to that of the civilized people. They never can hold on to responsibility.

It will be doomsday before IGP moves his hindquarters and does something useful.
citizen1 Wednesday, 07 July 2010 05:26 AM
OH!! So now UN is also bribing police like the ministers. Give it a break!
steve Wednesday, 07 July 2010 06:03 AM
Education is the key!
Democracy works well when people are educated; that's why we got representatives likes Weerawansa, mervin & co in the parliament.
Regi Wednesday, 07 July 2010 06:11 AM
WImal doesn't have to worry to get islandwide support. All those people who were supposed to have voted for him to achieve high preferential votes in Colombo District are enough.
Rajapaksha Wednesday, 07 July 2010 06:14 AM
Ambassodor Dr. Palitha Kohona was one of the members of the UN Special Committee on Israeli Practices in the Occupied Territories.
PRANANDU Wednesday, 07 July 2010 06:18 AM
weerawansa's JVP blood is thicker than water.
Hash Wednesday, 07 July 2010 06:19 AM
He has to realize , not all the countries are like SL..
DHA Wednesday, 07 July 2010 06:21 AM
Wimal no one is above the law. just because your a minister you can just walk in front of a Private building and protest the way you want...!!!...just imagine can a normal civilian walk to the parliament premises and protest the way he wants...?....I will salute the cops in this regard...!!!
suwimal Wednesday, 07 July 2010 06:23 AM
This problem could be solved constitutionally. Bring up a proposal to amend the constitution of UN so that secretary general will not have the power to appoint such panels. This is a solution, sri lanka style.
bigsam Wednesday, 07 July 2010 06:28 AM
If this is the way to solve problems, isn't there an EU office the NFF can surround and continue to hallucinate that GSP+ would be reinstated?
PJ Wednesday, 07 July 2010 06:51 AM
Stupidity has no limits.
bernard Wednesday, 07 July 2010 07:03 AM
Cat is out of the bag. Now all Sri Lankans should be convinced, Police can be bribed. Ha Ha!!!
Kirthi hewamanne Wednesday, 07 July 2010 07:12 AM
How come other senior minisers with brains do not intervene in this fiasco. they want to see this Modawansa to go down the tube.He will get his pink slip very soon.
