President Mahinda Rajapaksa said even though we faced a 30-year war, we still import weapons and the equipment needed for defending the country.

He said it was now time for our country to carry out research and manufacture what was needed to secure our safety and add to our economic development as well.

The President expressed these views while participating at the ceremony to award colours to the Artillery Regiment of the Sri Lanka Army.

Most of the comments shows their negative thinking. This had to be started long before. In this scenario our people are keen on producing and modifying arms. Remind me how our people made Galkatas. People who attend to made this type of arms were kept behind the bars and wasted their talent. Only technology with safety measured to be introduced and blended with such product..
