UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayaka filing a writ application before the Court of Appeal today challenging the conduct of Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayaka.
In his application, Attanayake sought an interim order on the Commissioner of Elections to inform Court of any person or institution that refuses to obey and respect guidelines, measures and systems formulated and approved.
Atthanayake in his writ application also expressed his apprehension and dismay that the conduct of the Elections Commissioner and his contradictory statements that have been made by him from time to time has made him the laughing stock in the public eye.

The Commissioner of Elections should be impartial ... if he cannot perform his duties, it is better for him to retire, as mentioned just after the Presidential election.

The UNP is very lethargic, in spite of having loads of lawyers. ... The DNA, in contrast, is very active in bringing court cases against the government.

Sensible move by the UNP.

People will never again have faith in him ...
