Cant understand this hesitation in punishing the errant minister when there is already a precedent of an ex-Minister being hauled before the court and jailed for contempt of court.

How long does it take for the law in this country to get hold of this minister?????? I pray that the god above us all to punish all these politicians who have made our lives so miserable..... They shall not attain peace no matter whether they sit under a Bo tree their rest of life..

I think everybody is jumping the gun. The Bar Association went for a boycott even before investigating the matter. they asssumed that whatever the news shown in the media were correct. In fact, Rishad was not given a chance by the lawyers to tell his side of story.

Very good attempt by the senior lawyers.Everything depends on the power of the 18th Amendments.

what about punishing the Mannar judge who gave the shooting order ?
Sylvia de Silva Thursday, 26 July 2012 04:34 AM
Firstly, an accused needs to be proven to be punished in the face of law!
An accused remains an accused until it’s proven otherwise!
Lawyers and officials in the legal profession should know this more than any other layman!!

the law and order is failing in this country day by day. It only applies to the ordinary citizens of srilanka. What a pity.

If Govt.not act somebody must act in keeping the dicnity of the Justice System.
No point of talking who right and who wrong the point is the verdit not acceptable by a party they can go for appeal and not treating the Judge and make a protest against the judicial system of the Cointry.
These peoples must punished according to the Law of our Country.

In any other country the Minister concerned (if he has any self respect) would have resigned by now. Alternately the President should remove him from his post. This is a good move by the Lawyers but will it serve any purpose? It will be another case like that of tying a Samurdhi official to a tree. He will be found NOT GUILTY !!
Silva Thursday, 26 July 2012 06:35 AM
Not all ministers in Sri Lanka are Buddhists, stop being a bigot.

Why Bar Association did not protest the 18th Amendment, which is the obstacle for rule of law.
