Reshuffle at Embilipitiya Police HQ

All Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors at the Embilipitiya Police Headquarters are to be transferred, according to the IGP. On these lines 10 officers beginning from the OIC downwards will be transferred. The transferred police officers said that no exact reason had been given for the transfers.

Four Officers including the OIC of the Crimes Division had been given paid leave.

However police sources said that this situation came about at the Embilipitiya Police headquarters after a scuffle within a Police vehicle during the transporting of a person in remand custody to the Court house. The Prisoner had grabbed an officer’s weapon and the resulting struggle had led to the death of one person. (Ajithlal Shantha Udaya)
