  • Minister Monday, 29 November 2010 04:06 PM

How many ministers and deputies went with him?

    bigsam Monday, 29 November 2010 01:37 PM

Prema - wake up. Punchitha is referring to the fact that the UK legal system could arrest him on the grounds of alleged crimes against humanity.

    bigsam Monday, 29 November 2010 01:40 PM

Ah really - then what happened to SF?

    PWC Monday, 29 November 2010 01:52 PM

    Thush Monday, 29 November 2010 01:57 PM

Yes, agreed 100%. Nothing will happen. He will and should return home safely.

    TDDC Monday, 29 November 2010 02:37 PM

The British law established 800 years ago and that is very independent and impartial. The British Government has little control over it.

    Sue Monday, 29 November 2010 02:41 PM

You're so right. Sri Lankans forget real fast. The man who brought real peace to the country is locked up in jail, in case you didn't know.

pissu balla Monday, 29 November 2010 02:57 PM

Next in agenda: meet French president in UK and ask our King to help to settle the problems with Muslims in France.

    jeevan Monday, 29 November 2010 02:59 PM

    Dilshan Monday, 29 November 2010 05:15 PM

    Fantastic Monday, 29 November 2010 05:50 PM

You are clearly delusional if you think there are less than 10 Sri Lanka students in Oxford lol.

    Aravinda Monday, 29 November 2010 08:13 PM

Thank you very much for correcting me. Yes, you are right. They are around 20-30 Sri Lankan students currently in Oxford. Actually I wanted to say that the Sri Lankan Society of University of Oxford may have less than about 10 members. They even do not maintain a website (very unsual for a student society in Oxford) and also their contact details are not available. So, I am a bit concern whether this society is functioning as a usual student society within University of Oxford or just formed by few people and do someting when those involved need to show someting.

    Lokka Monday, 29 November 2010 11:35 PM

Who told you Kanthi that UK is unhappy. It is the terrorists supporters who doesn't like the President visitng UK. We welcome him in UK at any time.

    veera Tuesday, 30 November 2010 03:18 AM

    Good Luck

    ajith Tuesday, 30 November 2010 05:02 AM

UK can now arrest American Leaders as they are the worse committed lot for war crimes according to Wiki leaks.

    podda Tuesday, 30 November 2010 07:45 AM

Lankans were with him during the war. But they left him after seeing his immatured political speeches.

    podda Tuesday, 30 November 2010 07:49 AM

    for terrorist supporters.

    FARZAN Tuesday, 30 November 2010 09:38 AM

Hey mate already UK also in the arrest list........ Who may arrest the is the problem......

    Raja Tuesday, 30 November 2010 10:43 AM

Then you shouldn't be in Sri Lanka Carrot. You are talking as if you had a decent life with the terrorists and the now defunct tiger regime.

    Rishani Tuesday, 30 November 2010 02:25 PM

Jeevan, President is already here in UK. It was confirmed on Channel 4 news that he arrived in UK yestereday.... Why is it sounding dodgy to you.

    Suren Monday, 29 November 2010 12:19 PM

    Bye Bye President!!!

    Kanthi Monday, 29 November 2010 11:41 AM

UK is not too happy about him visiting, why taking chances and risk. Hasty decisions are no good sign.

    SundaraLingam Monday, 29 November 2010 11:46 AM

Is this Oxford union or Oxford University Student Union?

    hema Monday, 29 November 2010 11:47 AM

NEVER HAVE HATRED EVEN IN CASE OF YOUR WORST ENEMY. HEMA

    lankaman Monday, 29 November 2010 11:51 AM

If he gets arrested, it will be SENSATIONAL!!!

    Ryan Monday, 29 November 2010 11:59 AM

Even though you wish him that he wont wish you like that, his compassion is infinite

Common Man Monday, 29 November 2010 12:00 PM

More work for Terrorist Diaspora. (Show placards/sun bathing). As a leader who wiped out terrorism for good, a country must be lucky to welcome such a leader. Slap on the face that support terrorism.

    Senanayake Monday, 29 November 2010 12:04 PM

Mr President it is so good you are making the trip. I hope sri lankans can see you here in UK. Hopefully we can see your speach in print.
We've just seen Victor Ratnayake perform yesterday at Camden and it was great too.

    Prema Monday, 29 November 2010 12:09 PM

What for? He doesn't handle his travel - don't you know.
May be when you are traveling you do your one way tickets to claim asylum and get lost in the system.
We hate your kind of people to be coming to UK. There are lots of fellas like that.

    Aravinda Monday, 29 November 2010 12:11 PM

@ Sundaralingam, There is only one Oxford Union. He was invited by the Sri Lankan Society of University of Oxford to address the Oxford Union. As far as I know there is only a very few Sri Lankan students in Oxford (not more than ten) and may be one of two Sri Lankans who works in the University.

    spark Monday, 29 November 2010 12:13 PM

MR has lost much credibility with the International Community. This event in oxford is an attempt to bring some much lost recognition, though it will be a poor show as he fails and refuses to be interviewed by independent journalists.

    ashik Monday, 29 November 2010 12:14 PM

nice to know, hope he wil get a good reception

    Rishani Monday, 29 November 2010 12:17 PM

We welcome the President in UK no two words about it.

    namal Monday, 29 November 2010 12:28 PM

What's the purpose of this trip at a time they cant even protect Elephants and make clear the Elephants traditional walk paths they use or building electric fences to protect people in the country, Riots in prisons, and cost of living going up, and when should cut down expenses or trying to explain to Suddhas about his plans for Tamils..?.
