Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa Jayaram today sought Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's intervention to secure immediate release of 80 fishermen detained by the Sri Lankan Navy.

She expressed distress over the recent arrest of 20 fishermen and seizure of five mechanised boats on November 21, World Fisheries Day, while they were fishing in Palk Bay.

In a letter to Singh, she insisted that India use highest diplomatic channels to secure release of 80 fishermen and 47 fishing boats detained by the Sri Lankan authorities at the earliest. (The New Indian Express)

No way keep your orders in your country. Sri Lanka is not part of your country. If you're so keen about your people stop them crossing the border and fishing illegally.

TN is the only Indian state which is located very close to Lanka. She has never admired LTTE or endorsed their actions in the past and not in the present. She even had threats from LTTE during the 90s. See, no body likes innocent civilians suffering getting killed and undergoing hardships. She is not against SL people, she is only against the regime and the atrocities committed by the SL military on Minorities. Even today, SL people must be knowing as to how many students are pursuing degrees in various colleges in TN. Let let us go soft on sensitive issues. Let the Let the SL govt release the fisher men and extend their friendship across the boundary. They have nothing to lose. If the SL govt can go one step further and implement the 13th amendment as promised, everyone including the world community will shutup. Finally, it is upto the SL govt to decide which way to take...but every action has eual and opposite reactions.
