As a practicing Muslim, I fail to see why something as important as killing another person (the Quran states that killing one person is like killing all of humanity) even for punishment is not mentioned in it.Stoning (rajm) is only mentioned in the hadith. Mind you, the hadith came 200 years after the Prophet Muhammad SAW passed away. This makes me doubt stoning to death. I think its a cultural thing that seeped into Islam and has no place in Islam.

Mr Sumanthriran was correct.People cannot agree with barbaric laws like using by the tribes. This is Sri Lanka any body can critically talk about anything. Constitution has gave enough freedom for that. Specially Buddhism has given right to criticized even Buddhism before accepted it as religion.

Stoning was common in ancient times but its not anymore, Sharia alw is outdated and Muslims need to update it
Sham Saturday, 05 December 2015 08:50 AM

Stoneing to death is in the OLD TESTAMENT of the bible which Jesus condemed it but not sited in the NOBLE QURAN....

If it was concerning a life and death situation of a Sri Lankan national, a Sri Lankan Parliament MP has every right to raise such question there, irrespective of religious concerns. No one can say he does not have a right to talk something worthwhile in the Parliament.
Loga Saturday, 05 December 2015 01:22 PM
Not Sumanthiran MP, every civilized citizen of the world has the right to condemn punishment meted out by the woman under barbaric law. Loga
Nadeesha Saturday, 05 December 2015 01:01 PM
No civilized person will condone stoning even an animal to death.
CS Saturday, 05 December 2015 12:49 PM
Finally TNA speaking about national issues. Muslim MPs should consider the content of the speeach instead of shouting down Mr Sumanthiran
Daham Saturday, 05 December 2015 12:18 PM
Sumanthiran is right. Marikar has no principles and his opinions are baseless.
