Emergency laws in SL to be lifted - The Hindu

Emergency laws, now in operation in Sri Lanka, will be lifted shortly.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa will make a statement in Parliament on the lifting of emergency during the forenoon session on Thursday, highly placed sources said. Emergency laws were being extended on a monthly basis ever since these were imposed, about three decades ago.

The lifting of the provisions of the emergency regulations marks a key decision of the government, aimed at bringing normalcy back to the country, after the end of the 30-year civil war. (The Hindu)

    Good decision.I think most of younger generations who have lived under Emergency regulations for three decades will not understand the life without emergency regulations..It's going to be a new experience.
