The prevailing showery condition would continue over the island during the next few days, the Meteorology Department said.
It said showers or thundershowers would occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and North-Western provinces and heavy falls of about 100 mm are likely at some places in those areas.
As there might be temporary localised strong winds during thundershowers, they requested the general public to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by lightning activity.
The Department said that sea area extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil and the sea area extending from Puttalam to Kankasanturai via Mannar can be rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to (50-55) kmph at times.
