A child who visited the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children (LRH) at Borella for treatment on October 7 has tested positive for COVID-19, Hospital’s Director Dr. G. Wijesuriya said.
He said the child, who is from Minuwangoda, showed symptoms of fever.
Meanwhile, the father of another child who arrived at the hospital for treatment has also tested positive for the virus.
However, the child and the mother had not tested positive for the virus.
Dr. Wijesuriya said though the patients who tested positive had not maintained contacts with the staff members for a longer period, PCR tests are being conducted on the staff members as well.
He said there was no imminent threat at the hospital for COVID-19 but requested the people to minimize visiting the hospital.
“We request only one person to accompany the patient when visiting the hospital,” he said.
