A total of six bodies of the 11 inmates died during the Mahara Prison riot have been identified by their family members, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said today.
He said two bodies were identified on Friday while four more bodies identified by their family members yesterday.
They were residents of Ja-Ela, Wattala, Minuwangoda, Anguruwathota, Weliweriya and Enderamulla.
“The autopsies of the four bodies identified by the relatives will be conducted by the Chief Judicial Medical Officer of Ragama. The bodies have been placed at the mortuary until the Court delivers an order with regard to the disposal of the bodies,” he said.
Meanwhile, DIG Rohana said the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is conducting investigations into the riot
