A brawl which broke out regarding a three-month-old puppy, resulted in the death of a resident of Deltota Estate named Sinnavelu Selvaraj, a 51 year-old father of two children, last Saturday (12), according to the Galaha Police.
Preliminary police investigations revealed that the deceased had brought a puppy that had got wet due to the rain, when he returned home from Galaha town. When the owner of the pup had come and asked for it, he had returned the pup to owner saying that it was brought by him because it was getting wet in the rain. However, a brawl had erupted between these two persons and the owner of the pup had attacked the deceased. The victim had been taken to the Galaha rural hospital by Suva Seriya ambulance summoned through No.1990.
Due to the critical condition of the victim, he had been transferred to Kandy General Hospital where he had died.
Galaha police are investigating into the incident.The post mortem examination was scheduled to be held yesterday (13) by Kandy additional magistrate Jagath Mahagedara.
The suspect who had been arrested, was a 43-year-old father of three children, according to the police. Statements had been given by the witnesses.
A team of police officers carried out investigations on the direction of Gampola Police division OIC, SP Sriyantha Peiris.
