Pakistan sealed their place in the final of the Asia Cup after they completed a comprehensive bonus-point victory over Sri Lanka at Dhaka on Thursday.
A 152-run stand between skipper Misbah-ul-Haq and Umar Akmal saw Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by six wickets and 61 balls to spare. Pacer Aizaz Cheema picked up four wickets earlier in the day to restrict Sri Lanka to 188 in 45.4 overs.
Chasing 189, Pakistan got off to a jittery start losing early wickets. The openers fell with just 31 on the board in 11.2 overs.
To worsen matters, Sri Lanka's Suranga Lakmal (2-37) dealt a vital blow to dismiss Younis Khan for two to put Sri Lanka in control of the low-scoring tie.
But the game quickly and surely slipped out of Sri Lanka's control after bowlers Seekkuge Prasanna (1-49) and Lasith Malinga (0-44) failed to restrict Pakistan from reaching the target.
Misbah (72*) and Umar Akmal (77) successfully steadied the innings to torment the bowling and clinch a comfortable victory in the end.
Earlier in the day, Sri Lanka skipper Mahela Jayawardene won the toss and put Pakistan to field first. Sri Lanka started off well to get to 33 for no loss in the first five overs.
But pacer Cheema crippled the Sri Lankan batting to dismiss openers Jayawardene (12) and Tillakaratne Dilshan (20). After Dinesh Chandimal (0) and Lahiru Thirimanne (7) too failed to add to the tally, it was Kumar Sangakkara who steadied the innings.
Sangakkara notched up a cautious 71 to put on a 96-run stand for the fifth wicket with Upul Tharanga (57) at the other end. Pacer Saeed Ajmal later picked up three scalps to bundle up the Lankan innings. (sportal.co.in)

Batting....Batting.....Inconsistent & poor batting led the defeat in both games [as well as CB cup final]. Our cricketers has become the masters of INCONSISTENCY!!!!! Performance is highly unpredictable......

Catches win matches! Unfortunately, our fielding is the main cause for losing matches. Irrespective of the seniority 2% fine should be imposed from the match fee on every missed catch on such player. Fielding coach should also be fined 1/2% accordingly.

When u r too confident, this is what happen...
Started the match with smashing as if we are in a hurry to collect runs & then struggle when wickets are fallen. Why this Kola Weri?
No safety first strategy...

Where is Dilsan bashers. During his captaincy Dili was blamed for every lost. Now what. Blame him for scoring only 20 odd runs.

Quickly bring in , - Batsmen like Bhanuka, Ashen Silva, Roshen Silva - Allrounders like Sachithra Serasinghe - spinners like Sachithra Senanayake, and other up and coming young talent. Do not suppress players by keeping them on bench, while parachuting favourites - Kapu, Chamara, Dilruwan, Seekuge. There are many young players in the local seen with much better First Class averages with better fielding than the favourites. What happened to Ajantha de Mendis – compare his averages with current favourite spinners.

Dilshan should open with Tharanga as they did previously. We don't need two hitters to open.

so sad to see our tail enders batting, lakmal, malinga's batting was poor.at least they should get singles 1s,2s try & bat full 50 overs.then we would have 220,or 230 runs.without throwing your wicket like this...see how other countries tail batting, they are fighting till the end.our coaches need to look in to this..........any comments guys

Few days ago, CB cup was almost on our hand, but now even after 3 Asian cup matches, SL eliminated from the tournament. Inconsistent performances. Really sad about SL cricket.

no team didn't sealed a place for final yet ... if india beat pakistan by bonus point today and if bangaldesh beat sri lanka by bonus points on the last game. all 3 teams will end up with 9 points . net run rate will come in to play.
