Leaders of political parties which were allies of the UNP have decided to form a new alliance under the leadership of Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa and contest the next general election.
UNP Parliamentarian Ranjith Maduma Bandara told the Daily Mirror that the decision to contest the general election under a new alliance was decided upon at a meeting which was held at the Parliamentary complex with the participation of several UNP allies including Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA) led by Mano Ganesan, MP Rajitha Senaratne and some UNPers who are calling for a leadership change.
Mr. Maduma Bandara said the name of the new alliance and the officer bearers would be decided later.
“ We will remain as UNP members and go along with the new alliance,” Mr. Maduma Bandara said.
TPA Member MP P Digambaram also confirmed the development. (Yohan Perera)

UNF allies parties are always comfortable with UNP because it tend to allow whatever ethenical harmful measures exerted by these allies . If Sajith falls pray to these elements he will not get the nodding of patriotic masses and will again sustain defeat at the general election.
