U.N. rights boss calls for sanctions on some Sri Lankan ex-military

U.N. human rights chief Michelle Bachelet called on states on Wednesday to impose “targeted sanctions” on former Sri Lankan military commanders implicated in alleged war crimes during the final years of a 26-year civil war that ended in 2009.

“States can consider targeted sanctions, such as asset freezes and travel bans against credibly alleged perpetrators of grave human rights violations and abuses,” she said in a report on Sri Lanka to the U.N. Human Rights Council.

Bachelet voiced concern that since 2020, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had appointed at least 28 serving or retired military and intelligence personnel to key civilian posts, including some “implicated in United Nations reports in alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity during the final years of the conflict”.(Reuters)

But you are patronising LTTE war criminals in your countries. How about putting sanctions on them too and also on your self for promoting terror for 30 bloody years and now trying to punish those who risked their lives to give better life to Tamils in Sri Lanka (who never appreciate that due to racist mindset of theirs).

This is not enough. Sanctions should be imposed also on all government members including the ruling Mafia Clan, because they do not hand over the war criminals to The Hague.

So war criminals of LTTE are putting pressure on you. Because the war ended Tamils live a normal life in the North although they are still afraid to publicly appreciate that due to terror cells still are operating under your cover. First prosecute those in Europe and UK as well as in USA. Their crimes against humanity i.e middle East wars, are horrendous. You definitely do not have guts to do that right.
