Some one with common sense must see the way how lock down restrictions are being enforced in other countries. Here every thing will be available only on TV screens.

Why allow tourists to come in again ? Is it to infect our poor tourist trade people ?

    A Foolish Citizen Friday, 28 May 2021 02:02 PM

At least a semblance of intelligence being displayed even at this late stage is most welcome.

Fully agree with comment from Wing Man. Sri Lankan’s don’t know how to observe rules. This is the consequence. On the 25th we were told not to take our vehicles and to go only to places within walking distance. We may have thought it was a stupid rule but still it was the rule. We were also told that only 1 person per household could go out. I walked to a nearby ATM. Loads of people out in their vehicles. I saw my neighbor with 3 people in the vehicle. In other countries sure there were a few rule breakers but the majority obeyed the rules. Here it is the other way around, a few obey the rules, the majority break them. That is why those countries are where they are and why we are, and will continue to be, a basket case. And because we can’t obey rules, this virus will go on circulating, we will cripple our economy, overwhelm our health services, lose more and more lives. Who suffers in the end? We, the people of Sri Lanka. Well done, people, keep up your selfish, stupId ways!

The country is plunged in to dark ages by the dictator and the colonial masters. Sad to see that my beautiful country never had an intelligent leader after Premadasa.

This sort of restrictions should have taken place well at least one month before which could have saved many lives. Essentials should be made available to people all over the country and specifically in cities through mobile vendors.

    Perera Friday, 28 May 2021 04:34 PM

    How do we buy essentials?

Denis Collina Friday, 28 May 2021 05:07 PM

it is always appreciated when the government give some help to the population, no matter what and how. It is impossible to make everyone happy and we can not complaint. However, a small lift of the curfew to buy food should be given. At least leave some grocery always open. Especially for those ones that don’t have enough money to buy food for one week or so. Anyway, between people there is always help and what makes a better country is the population itself, not the government. And by the way, for who thinks that al the tourists are infected: we don’t carry the virus in our blood, we can get sick from other people and considering how everyone behaved on the past New Year, the virus has been spread a lot faster cause the local celebration. The tourists when coming here already had vaccination or did quarantine before travelling in the country, so the virus is spreading for other reasons. Thank you and i hope this situation will change in better soon for everyone.

    You're again

    roni Friday, 28 May 2021 05:23 PM

What sense does it make to open the airport, under these circumstances for tourists and others.

    Sambo Friday, 28 May 2021 05:48 PM

Dear Sir, The easiest way is lock down. But how are the people going to survive this long period. The country will have a mental sick population by 7th June. We have only fish, chicken and vegetable vendors coming our way. What about the dry good. What if we need any hardware items. If a tap breaks will we have to wait unit the end of the lock down and be with no water. Daily needs are not only fruits and vegetables. We are in a bad state as it is and were hoping for a break on the 31st. The politicians will make these decisions as it does not effect them. They could go anywhere at any time. They have liquor stocks in their homes. Please the people are suffering enough and you are making matters worse.
